On International Women’s Day, 2000 Pakistani women marched in the streets of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad to protest for their rights. They demanded an end to the violence against women and their children, an end to discrimination, and an end to gender-based inequality.

The Aurat March is Pakistan’s first-ever march for women. It was a peaceful demonstration which lasted from 10 am until 5 pm. The march was organized by a group called the Aurat Foundation Pakistan (AFF). The AFF is a non-profit organization that works on issues of violence against women and girls in Pakistan. . The march was led by women, with speakers and supporters in the forefront. It began at Karachi’s Sulitjuk Hospital, where many women were dying at the hands of their husbands, who killed them for being “unfaithful,” and ended with a rally in front of Parliament House.
